Update #02 – Hard Plastic – The innovative modular walls of Forgotten Halls.

Hi to all.

So you’ve seen a (very small, we assure you) sneak peek of Forgotten Halls, with our last video.
The big questions will be “how does FH works ?” and “when will it be available ?”

Let’s start the with the later.
Forgotten Halls will be presented on the Kickstarter platform at the end of 2016, once all 3D bases pledges will have been sent to all our backers.
You understood right, there are just some few months to wait!

Let’s speak now about how Forgotten Hall works. There is a TON of hidden gems in our product, and most are not yet seen.
But we can start with the walls, on this video:

As you see, all of our pillars have round inserts where to connect our dynamic walls (all concepts created by MHW), where other inserts (here you see our columns but torches and much more will be seen) can be added.
From there on, it’s just a question of “flooring up” if you want to make higher walls … be it because you want them higher, or because you want to make a building with multiple floors.
These higher floors will be reachable with an innovative stair system.

Now, again, we’re barely scrapping the surface of what can be done with our walls … Just to give you an example, here is what can be done, with yet another of our ideas, the Wall Inserts, yet another innovative idea of MHW.

The Wall Inserts system

Wall Inserts are walls pieces that insert themselves into existing walls, allowing you to create completely different (and modular) walls with a simple gesture, without having to change and detach the previous existing walls which build up your whole structure.

This gives you two huge benefits:
– It is very good for your wallet: if you have 30 walls with arches, and you want also plains walls, thicker, you don’t need to buy some other 30 more walls. Just buy some wall inserts (only on FH), and you’re good to go!
– plug and play, very speedily: if you have built a big dungeon or castle interior, but want to change some of the walls, you can do it very quickly without have to tear down / detach most of your walls and pillars. Just add a wall insert and you’re done!

Our video shows only the 2 different wall inserts, with amazing results. Imagine what you could do with way more : the possibilities are endless … and they will be.

Update #1 – Hard Plastic – From 3D Bases to Forgotten Halls!

Hi to all.

Manorhouse Workshop, the creator of 3D Bases, MUP, and of his endless modular buildings and creations, is proud to present our new project: Forgotten Halls! This project started exactly a year ago, in October 2015. The first concept drawings were shown to the public on our blog here, in January 2016:

Now, some months later, with the 3D Bases production nearly over and the first deliveries already on their way, we are presenting something more than drawings (or 3D computer grafic): you will see the REAL pieces of Forgotten Halls.
Creating the real pieces and checking them first hand is a basic rule from any modeler, to check that everything works and correct/improve the concept, which allows to give a customer a final product which works not only in theory, but in practice (an approach used in all MHW’s projects, from his buildings to 3D Bases, and also the MUP).

What you will see in the following video is just the tip of the iceberg of our project.

As you see, on our 3D Base Abbey base, the secret passage under the Altar did HINT at something more. This “something more” is Forgotten Halls.

Forgotten Halls is THE most advanced modular construction system existing, and will be made of hard plastic. We always had in mind a world where 3D Bases could merge and complete a modular interior & exterior building system, with the quality and attention to details for which MHW is known around the world.

The 3D Bases project is in its infancy, and will grow tenfold. Forgotten Halls will be following the same path, like brother and sister. A long series of articles (complete with pictures and videos) will show you its true potential and its unique and original technical solutions.

This is just the beginning.

Update #18 – Rough Terrain & Cliffs

Oggi vi presentiamo 2 nuovi 3D Bases.
Il primo è il più generico e duttile. Una base con solo terreno. Adatto per la maggior parte dei tavoli tridimensionali per avere un valido appoggio per qualsiasi struttura sia naturale che artificiale. Parliamo di semplici rilievi o di edifici o ruderi o semplicemente terreno aperto per combattimenti campali.

Today we are presenting you 2 new 3D Bases tiles.
The first tile is more generic and useful. It’s a tile with just some earth/ground, useful for most tridimensional tables, where you can add any kind of structure, be it constructed like a house or building, or more natural like a tree or a hill, or in between like ruins.

Il secondo basotto è più complesso ma, anche più interessante. Si tratta di un classico “Bocage” cioè una strada -sentiero protetto da due alture naturali o scavate dall’uomo. anche questo basotto permette moltissimi utilizzi sul vostro tavolo tridimensionale. Intanto rompe la linea di tiro del nemico. Permette di transito delle miniature relativamente protette. Permette un possibile posizionamento elevato di miniature con armi da tiro. Oltre a essere un’abbellimento scenico di sicuro impatto se ripetuto formando di fatto una strada protetta.

The second tile is a bit more complex, but also more interesting.
It is composed of some heights (small cliffs) which surrounds a road. This tile allows for numerous gaming uses for your miniatures, since the cliffs give some protection against missile attacks, and protects naturally any transit on the road, or give a good vantage point for artillery or other missile units while positioned on the cliffs.
Multiple tiles positioned one after another create a long protected road, giving yet another dimension to our tile.

Update #7 – 3D Bases – Modular Terrain: Skirmish & Wargame

Salve a tutti.
Comincia a prendere corpo anche il chiostro dell’abbazia o almeno quello che ne rimane. Il rudere del chiostro sarà suddiviso su 4 diverse basi che accoglieranno anche le mura diroccate del monastero.

The cloister of the abbey (or at least what’s left of it) starts to take shape. The ruins of the cloister will be subdivided onto four different bases that will also include the crumbling walls of the monastery.

Unendo le prime 3 basi tridimensionali si comincia a intravvedere la complessa struttura del grande edificio che andremo a creare.

By combining the first 3D bases we are beginning to see the complex structure of large building that we will create.

Update #6 – 3D Bases – Modular Terrain: Skirmish & Wargame

Salve  a tutti.
All’abbazia si aggiunge un nuovo settore: l’entrata. La presentiamo già dipinta per far vedere bene i complessi dettagli.

We add a new sector to the abbey: the entrance. We present the base already painted in order to show well all the complex details.

Abbiamo dipinto anche la sezione dell’abside. Per la colorazione delle 2 basi seguite questo tutorial.

We also painted the apse section. To color the two bases follow this tutorial.

Unendo le 2 basi si compone gran parte del corpo dell’abbazia.

By combining the two bases these create much of the body of the abbey.

presto accanto all’abbazia verrà creato il chiostro… ma tutto questo al prossimo update.

Soon will be created the cloister beside the Abbey… but all this at the next update

Update #5 – 3D Bases – Modular Terrain: Skirmish & Wargame

Salve a tutti.
Terminato il master dell’abside dell’abbazia. Questa sezione è la più complessa delle 6 basi che comporranno l’abbazia con chiostro in rovina.

The master of the apse of the abbey is completed. This section is the most complex of the six bases that will make up the abbey with cloister in ruin.

Alcuni dettagli del master. Come il passaggio segreto sotto l’altare e il crollo in parte del corridoio a lato dell’abside.

Some details of the master. Like the secret passage under the altar and the cave-in of the corridor on the side of the apse.

Questi particolari servono anche a irrobustire le parti sopraelevate della zona dell’altare e del corridoio, facendo in modo che non si flettano nel tempo.

These particulars also serve to strengthen the elevated parts of the altar area and the corridor, preventing any flexing due to time.

Update #4 – 3D Bases – Modular Terrain: Skirmish & Wargame

Salve a tutti.
Terminiamo il tutorial aggiungendo l’erba alla base.
Update # 3 how to paint the bases:  part 1
Con della colla Alifatica per legno (Vinavil) andiamo a coprire tutte le parti dove posizioneremo l’erba sintetica. Spargiamo su tutta la base l’erba sintetica in maniera abbondante. Lasciamo asciugare bene la colla ed eliminiamo l’eccesso. ora a pennello a secco andiamo a spazzolare molto, molto delicatamente tutto lo strato d’erba con colore beige e giallo dorato. Rifiniamo tutto con una leggera passata a pennello a secco con grigio chiaro dove abbiamo sporcato di giallo le pietre.

We finish the tutorial by adding the grass at the base.
Update # 3 how to paint the bases: part 1
With glue “Aliphatic for wood” (PVA) we go to cover all the parts where we will place the artificial grass. Now, we spread over the entire base the synthetic grass in abundantly. Let the glue dry well and eliminate the excess of artificial grass. Now we go to dry-brush very, very gently the layer of grass with beige, and golden yellow . We finish everything with a very light dry-brush light gray where we have dirtied of yellow on the stones.

Update #3 3D Bases – Modular Terrain: skirmish & wargame

Salve a tutti.
Nuovo update su come dipingere le nuove basi tridimensionali Manorhouse Workshop. Optiamo per un metodo di pittura molto veloce 4 colori per ottenere un risultato molto valido. Partiamo dando una base marrone scuro a pennello a secco. passiamo a un marrone chiaro. Continuiamo con un beige e terminiamo il tutto con un grigio chiaro sempre a pennello a secco.

Hello everyone.
New update on how to paint the new three-dimensional bases by Manorhouse Workshop. We opt for a method of painting very fast, only 4 colors to get a very good result. We start by giving a basic dark brown in dry brush. we move on to a light brown. We continue with a beige and finish it all with a light gray always dry brush.

Il risultato ottenuto è piacevole.

The result is very nice.

Ma, manca ancora un particolare per rendere il tutto più realistico. L’aggiunta dell’erba per dare vita al tutto. Ma questo lo vedremo nel prossimo update.

But, it still lacks a particular to make it more realistic. The addition of the grass to give life to everything. All this we will see in the next update.

Update #32 – Modular Underground Project – How to paint walls and floors quickly.

Salve a tutti.
Quanto sarà difficile dipingere il nostro dungeon in plastica? Sarà semplicissimo.
Consigliamo di lavorare i singoli pezzi senza staccarli dallo sprue è più facile maneggiarli.
Partiamo dando un primer spray nero acrilico

Hello everyone.
How much it will be difficult to paint our dungeon in plastic? Will be very easy.
We recommend of working individual pieces without disconnect them from the sprue it is easier to handle them.
We start by giving a black acrylic spray primer.

Una volta seccato lo spray, passiamo a dare 3 passaggi di colore a pennello asciutto.
marrone rossiccio, color carne e beige. Solo per il pavimento diamo un passaggio a pennello a secco di grigio chiaro.

Once dried the spray, we move on to give three steps of color to dry brush.
reddish brown, flesh-colored and beige. Only for the floor, one step to dry brush of gray.

Terminata la pittura. i pezzi vanno staccati dallo sprue e incollati insieme.

After the painting. the pieces are detached from the sprue and glued together.

Aiutandosi con una cesoia da modellismo, andiamo a recidere i canali di colata dello sprue. Fatelo con attenzione e non dovrete neppure ritoccare il pezzo. Personalmente preferisco incollare la plastica con il Vinavil (colla Alifatica- PVA) in caso di necessità è facile dividere le 2 metà. Una volta secca la colla il pezzo è pronto per entrare a far parte del vostro dungeon.

With the aid of a little hobby cutter we go to cut the sprues. Do it carefully and you will not need even a touch-up of the piece. Personally I prefer to glue the plastic with VINAVIL (Alifatica- glue PVA) in case of need it is easy to divide the two parts. Once dry glue the piece is ready to become a part of your dungeon.
